The overall restoration project is estimated to cost between $3.0M and $4.3M, and funding is potentially available from a variety of sources including Federal, State, and local grants, our revenue-raising activities at the Studio Around the Corner, the Brewster Music and Fall Festivals, individuals/groups/business donations, and targeted fundraising efforts. BUILDING SYSTEM DESIGN UPDATE

Background:
Prior to the pandemic, CAC contracted with OLA Consulting Engineers of Hawthorne, NY, to design updates to the Southeast Old Town Hall's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Work began and all was on target prior to the shutdown in March. Unfortunately, the budgeted revenue streams for this project piece, namely the Brewster Music and Fall Festivals, were halted and we have had to put a hold on the work. Work could resume to complete this portion of the overall project once sufficient funding is in place. Title: Fundraiser for Old Town Hall Building System Update Design Targeted Amount: Range $1000 up to $65,000 (the actual contract cost). Fundraiser for Roof Analysis Targeted Amount: $5000 Why: Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I'm raising money for Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition Inc in its 10+ year long effort to restore the historic Southeast Old Town Hall and its wonderful theater on Main Street in Brewster, NY. This campaign will (1) assess the Southeast Old Town Hall roof system with a thorough hands on inspection of the slate, gutters, brick chimney masonry, mortar joints, tie rods, chimney caps, flashings, snow guards, and projecting wood soffits to initiate repair specifications; (2) determine if replacement of slate over entire roof is warranted, and if so, whether the structure can handle an additional load of rigid foam insulation to enhance energy efficiency; and (3) assess whether a code compliant lightning protection system should be incorporated. (This work responds to findings from CAC's 2019 Technical Assistance Grant award by the Preservation League of NY.) This is one small but crucial piece of the Old Town Hall restoration which will do so much for the Village of Brewster. |
