BORN IN BRONZE: The Sachem Daniel Nimham Sculpture
Film Screening

Join us to view and discuss “The Creation of the Daniel Nimham Sculpture,” a documentary about the Sachem Daniel Nimham sculpture installed last year in Fishkill. Ninham was both a Wappinger Indian and Revolutionary War hero.  The Cultural Arts Coalition is pleased to sponsor this informative film about an ancient sculptural process still in use today, and also examines the contributions made by indigenous peoples in the creation of our country - even in the midst of their exclusion and annihilation.

The free film screening will be followed by a discussion with the sculptor Mike Keropian and filmmaker Jeff Hodges. SEATING FOR THIS EVENT IS LIMITED, so reserve yours here:

October Art Show and Sale
October 12th & 13th

Presenting an art show featuring the work of Sandy Rabinowitz, Tom Bisongo, Gabrielle Rabinowitz & Rebecca Rabinowitz. It is a collaborative art exhibition with distinctively different visual artists, all local in the Hudson Valley! 

Sandy Rabinowitz from Bethany, Connecticut, is an illustrator, watercolorist, and wire sculpture artist. She portrays all types of subject matter but is most known for her horses. Nestled in his lab studio in Patterson, New York, Tom Bisogno immerses himself in the creation of mesmerizing phosphorescent works on canvas. Using traditional mediums, Tom marks a captivating evolution in artistic expression. Gabrielle Rabinowitz is a collage artist, amateur herbalist and dreamworker based in the Hudson Valley. She collects local print materials to create multimedia pieces exploring themes of natural cycles, archetypal energies, and the interconnectedness of all life.

Come celebrate art, meet and chat with the artists. Refreshments served.
Admission is free. Exhibition open on Saturday Oct 12 and Sunday Oct 13 at 2pm - 6pm

The Thanksgiving Play
A Comedy by Larissa FastHorse

The Theatricals present the Putnam County Debut of “TheThanksgiving Play” (A comedy with the distinction of being the first Broadway play written by a Native American woman). Watch what happens when four well-meaning white people attempt to create a children's play addressing the "wild mess" of Thanksgiving. Show will be put on for 2 separate weekends in October.

Come celebrate Dia de los Muertos by adding to our public offering. The Offering is a home altar, created by family members during the annual Dia de los Muertos celebration. It's intended to welcome our deceased ancestors. 

There will be a special Ritual at 6:30 pm -You are invited to bring your late ancestor’s pictures and share their life memories.

The First Ladies Coalition

Colleen, a resilient ex-con, immigrant and survivor of domestic violence, invites Eleanor Roosevelt, Jackie Kennedy, Lady Bird Johnson and Mary Todd Lincoln into her sewing shop! Mysteries and secrets are unveiled – hers and theirs – and with the help of these courageous women, Colleen wrestles insurmountable obstacles into extraordinary possibilities – in the most surprising situations! In 90 minutes, through the eyes of Colleen, we encapsulate the history of our country and the invaluable impact of these four First Ladies as they spoke out, changing the course of events. They were forerunners – paving the way for our current wave of women in politics, the #MeToo Movement and social justice.

This unique evening, hosted by poet Brittany Carrasco, will feature a supportive, cabaret-style environment and refreshments. Feel free to bring your stories, anecdotes, acoustic songs, poetry, or just come to enjoy local talent. This is a safe space for people of all backgrounds.

The Cultural Arts Coalition presents Open Mic Nights at the Studio Around the Corner hosted by local standup comic Jack Ludlum. The mic is open to all performing artists. Whether you're a musician, a stand up comic, a poet and anything in between. Even if you are not a performer, you are more than welcome to come by and enjoy the talents of those in your community. 

When: Every Monday! Signup starts at 7pm, mic starts at 7:30.
