The Studio Around The Corner, which is located on the basement floor of Old Town Hall Theater, was the former home of the Southeast Town Court and is also the current storage area for some town records. It was used for many years for intermittent town-sponsored meetings and library and museum activities. In 2011, the Town Board approved a resolution to rent portions of the basement premises to Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition (TOSCAC) after hearing a proposal that the space will function as the Coalition’s headquarters and the beginnings of a cultural arts center. In September 2011, the court room area was transformed with minor renovations into the Studio Around the Corner, to be used for various arts and community related events including; exhibitions, workshops, receptions, lectures, and concerts for audiences of up to 50 people. The Coalition formally opened the doors to its new headquarters on October 2, 2011, establishing its base of operations. TOSCAC is currently collaborating with existing cultural institutions and inviting those institutions as well as individual artists and community groups to use the studio and another room on the premises to bring art, culture, and visitors to Old Town Hall. This collaboration highlights the existence of the historic theater on the third floor and drives planning and fundraising to get the doors open to allow for the use of the theater.
THE STUDIO AROUND THE CORNER IS LOCATED AT 67 MAIN STREET, SUITE 101, IN THE VILLAGE OF BREWSTER.

Art:
Every month, we feature an artist and their works in our Studio Around the Corner. With gallery showings each week, the artist opens their work for people of many cultures to enjoy. Some artists have donated pieces to our studio for permanence and we thank them for their generosity. |
Music:
We hold approximately 6 concerts a year. These concerts are a variety of classical and jazz chamber music performed by the most credible music experts in the industry. We've hosted talent associated with the American Symphony Orchestra, the Stamford Symphony Orchestra, Broadway, and more. |
Garden:
For the past many years, we have collaborated with Cornell Cooperative Extension and other organizations to grow a garden, beautifying our grounds and supplying fresh produce to the Putnam Community Action Partnership. In 2020, we produced over 250 pounds of vegetables for the Putnam CAP food pantry. It is amazing how productive small urban gardens can be!
